Creative Cornices (a Barron Designs company) has filled the void in an industry starving for something new. With the debut in Fall 2000 of a line of cornices embellished with hand-wrapped trimmings, the brother/sister design team of Ruth and Steve Barron quickly became the window fashion industry's hottest players.
The distinctive trimmings used in Creative Cornices are the same high-quality yarns and threads once found only in expensive custom work. Called "winding welt," they are based on the patented technique that made Barron Designs' fibre art well known internationally. This fibre art, pioneered by designer and company founder Barbara Barron, is prized by private and corporate collectors, among them Amoco Oil, Westinghouse, the Marriott Hotel chain, Kimberly Clark, the president of Israel, and actor Burt Reynolds, among many others.
With the launch of Creative Cornices, Barbara's children, Steve and Ruth, the second generation at the leadership of Barron Designs, brought their mother's art work to the service of the window fashions industry. Because of this link, the unique new product they've brought to market has been called "art for your windows".
